Facebook users around the world now have access to the Stories feature that the company has been testing in recent months.

Stories emulates a similar offering from Snapchat, allowing users to put together videos and photos to share with friends from within the Facebook app, that will disappear within 24 hours.

Facebook has already debuted the feature across other brands it owns. Instagram has offered Stories since the tail end of 2016, while WhatsApp recently announced a new way of sharing a status update that focuses heavily on images, rather than text.

The feature is already available within Facebook Messenger, but the social media giant hopes its mobile app's 1.7 billion users will boost engagement with Stories.

The launch comes shortly after the introduction of Messenger Day, a way for Facebook Messenger users to share what they're up to so they can find friends to meet with.
